Minorities Aid Center

The Rajinder Sachar Minorities  Committee was commissioned in 2005 by Indian Prime Minister to prepare a report on the latest social, economic, and educational conditions of the Muslim community of India. The committee report highlighted issues facing the Muslim community and their representation in Indian public life. The Sachar Committee highlighted and presented its suggestions on how to remove impediments preventing Indian Muslims from fully participating in the economic, political, and social mainstream of Indian life. The report was the first of its kind to reveal the "backwardness" of Indian Muslims. An issue highlighted was that while Muslims constitute 14% of the Indian population, they only comprise 2.5% of the Indian bureaucracy. The Committee concluded that the conditions facing Indian Muslims was below that of Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes.

Minorities Social and Welfare Center strives to strengthen the marginalized and the minorities communities in a sustainable manner to support its children, youth, the aged, widows, orphans and families leading towards human development with equity, dignity and justice ; to enhance the capacities of the target groups, families and communities through empowerment, participation and advocacy ; to work towards networking, strengthening alliances and building partnerships with national and international organizations with mutually compatible objectives so as to accomplish its objectives.

Minorities Aid Center also works to establish, facilitate, and administer institutions under the rights and duties as provided under Article 30 of the Indian Constitution; to establish institutions for social, cultural, educational, moral, technical and societal uplift of the country from Nursery to Diploma/Degree level.

Minorities Aid Center struggles to explore and open avenues in job oriented training to generate self-employment for women and downtrodden people; to establish and run minority coaching centers for competitive tests/examinations and also renders takes the responsibility to render scholarships and sponsorships, because Muslims are badly lagging behind from other minorities in respect to representation of Muslims in Government decision making and implementation.
